General

Q: Am I required to keep the 200/300 word rule on the OOC boards, too?

A: No, you are not. Spamming or flaming, however, is not permitted.

Q: If I am an Advanced member, do I still need to post 300 words on the Outer Rim boards?

A: Yes. You must post at least 300 words on every board except for the OOC boards.

Q: May I have more than one character?

A: In general, no. However, if you are active and have good writing skills you may PM Sayana and ask for a second character.

Q: What if my character dies?

A: If this happens, you may have a new character. This should be an event that rarely occurs. Don’t just kill off your character every time you want a new one.

Q: Why do you want our character’s gender to be the same as your own?

A: This adds an element of depth and reality to the roleplay, in addition to limiting confusion. It also keeps your administrator happy, which is always a plus.

Q: What advantages are there to keeping or changing my character after Advancing?

A: While you are allowed to change your character upon Advancing, I would personally prefer that you didn’t (though it won’t be held against you if you do). Many roleplayers like to get a feel for their characters before posting a profile, and since you are required to post a profile upon Advancing, you don’t really have a chance to do this if you’ve changed characters. Additionally, if you put all your energies into making one really in-depth character instead of two, you may find that your character is much deeper and so much more fun to roleplay with.

Q: I just Advanced and I changed characters, but I’m still in the middle of a roleplay with my old character. What do I do?

A: Finish your roleplay. Don’t simply cut it off just because you’ve Advanced; that would be bothersome for the person you’re in the middle of the roleplay with. This being said, you may not under any circumstances start another roleplay with your old character. Aside from the ones in the thread you’re finishing, all your IC posts should be with your new character.

Roleplay Specific

Q: Are there any physical differences between the Atlanteans and the Etrani?

A: On the whole, no. Both Atlanteans and Etrani may have any shade of hair, color of eyes, complexion, etc. However, Atlanteans might tend to be dressed somewhat richer.

Q: What if my character is an orphan?

A: If your character is an orphan or of questionable origins, you may be confused about where you fall in the system. The rule is as follows: if your character can prove the identity of his/her parents to be Atlantean, your character is as well. However, if your character’s parentage is unknown or were known Etrani, your character will be an Etrani as well. Due to the ancient Atlantean paranoia of “polluting the blood,” even if your character believes his/her parents to be Atlantean, he/she will not be accepted as such without proof.

Q: What if my character is half Atlantean, half Etrani?

A: Because intermarriage between the two ranks is forbidden, these “halflings,” as they are called, should be very, very rare. If the parents of a child are found to be Atlantean and an Etrani, both the parents and their offspring will be destroyed. For this reason, halflings may grow up as either Atlantean of as an Etrani, but revelation of their true heritage is forbidden.

Q: Can I kill other characters?

A: No, as this would be considered godmodeling. You may only do this if you have gotten the permission of the member whose character you are killing. A PM must be sent to Sayana from all members involved explaining the situation. This is simply so that I can be sure that no one is godmodeling.

Q: Can another member and I have characters who are related/have a history with each other that begins prior to the roleplay?

A: Yes, but only if both members are in agreement. A PM must be sent to Sayana from all members involved explaining the situation. This is simply so that I can be sure that no one is godmodeling.

Q: Do I have to post a profile for my character?

A: Newcomers are not required to, but have the option to do so. After you have Advanced, however, you must post a profile.
